Estyn Report 2023

We are delighted to announce the release of our latest Estyn report.  In October, a team of inspectors came to the school.  They spoke to learners; carried out lesson observations; looked in pupils' books and interviewed staff across both campuses. 

The report highlights the progress made by the school and achievements of our students, staff, and wider school community. The report commends the positive relationship developed between pupils and teachers; the welcoming nature of our pupils and how many pupils contribute confidently in lessons . Furthermore, the report highlights how the leadership have developed an inclusive ethos at the school and the beneficial support pupils receive.   

While the report is predominantly positive, it also provides valuable feedback on how we can improve further. We will work closely with Estyn and the Local Authority to address the recommendations and build upon our successes to ensure the best possible outcomes for our students. 

Mr Edwards commented that ‘We are proud that Estyn have acknowledged the strong progress we have made. However, there is still more work for us to do. The pupils and the staff at Newtown High School work incredibly hard and the report is a reflection of this work".
